The violinist Cécile Galy and pianist Cathy Abousalihac met 13 years ago when they were studying chamber music in Marseille's Music Conservatory in France. Cathy completed her Master's degree in Pedagogy in 2015 at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève in Switzerland, and Cécile is currently in the second year of her Master of Performance at the RCM in London with Lutsia Ibragimova.

 

They are now back together under the name DUO C, sharing their talent and friendship. They gave their first concert in December 2015 at Marseille's Music Conservatory. Cécile and Cathy's repertoire ranges from baroque to comtemporary music, but their first project togrther is dedicated to European romantic music, matching musicalitywith virtuosity. They perform Brahms's Sonata in D minor Op 108, Debussy's Clair de Lune and Saint-Saëns's Dance Macabre, and bring Spanish colours with Ravel's Pièce en forme de Habanera, Sarasate's Romance Andalouse, and De Falla's Spanish Dance from La Vida Breve. Cécile and Cathy have also explored Prokofiev's Five Melodies Op35bis, and gave the world premiere in Marseille of Ton That Tiet's Image de rêve, composed in 2004.

 

DUO C are looking foward to upcoming performances in France and England. They are exploring new musical perspectives by collaborating with French Jazz musician Bastien Ballaz and aim to expand their duo to a trio with French cellist Camille Gueirard.
